CAR Animals

Description

I wanted to make the CAR universe slightly alien, but still somewhat familiar. Because I am lazy yet creative, I decided to mash animals together to get a feel for how I generally want the world to be. If you have any more ideas for animal mashups, tell me! I’ll totally make ‘em.

From left to right, top to bottom:

Wolf/Horse hybrid: The primary mount animal in the CAR universe. It is carnivorous, but can carry a person a long distance—and simultaneously works well as a tracker. There are many variations of them, ranging from work animals to show steeds.

Hamster/Goat hybrid: Although completely and utterly adorable, it is essentially a herd animal—the people of the CAR universe use it for meat. It probably tastes like pork. It has a voracious appetite, often cramming whole fruits/vegetable in its cheeks and chewing it for hours on end.

Angler fish/amphibian hybrid: It dwells primarily in swamps/mudlands. It burrows beneath mud and wriggles its tongue like a worm to lure birds close to it. Often it can wait for days on end.

Bear/Armadillo/Sloth hybrid: this massive creature dwells in forests. Its hard carapace forms around it the closer it gets towards winter, slowing it down. At winter period, it is nearly completely covered in armor; at this point, it rolls into an impenetrable ball and hibernates. Then it sheds its armor and starts anew. They are considered most dangerous in summer, as they are fast without their armor coating, and WILL fuck your shit up. As they near winter and become slower, their diet also changes to that of berries. Summer though—they’re all about meat.

Pangolin/Snake/Moray Eel hybrid: They use their tiny legs primarily to steer, otherwise slithering similar to a snake. Though pretty adorable, their wide, dopey mouths hide an ENORMOUS maw with a second set of jaws to help push food down their throats. They are known to eat things whole, and often things far bigger than they. It is not uncommon that they will prey on small children.

Again, you have any others I’m totally open to recommendations. Next up is likely plantlife, as well as architecture.
